Ships of the future

More cost-effective, cleaner and safer ships The shipping sector, civil, military and yachting, is subject to world security issues, regulation and sustainable development, both for its design and construction and for related services (maintenance, port logistics, etc.).

For each marine, its specific area of operation and development model

Each of the five Marines tend to reduce its environmental impacts, driven by increasing binding rules, while maintaining its competitiveness with construction costs and operating under control, all without breaching the rules of maritime safety and security. A common goal with different technological approaches as they address the Navy, commercial shipping (including river navigation), Pleasure boats and yachts, Fishing or Scientific and Special ships (offshore supply ...).

Technological innovation faces challenges

The keys to innovation are based, among others on :

  • New technologies applied to hydrodynamics, risk and logistics management, onboard or produced energies, smart and intelligent systems…
  • Propulsion systems and their parts
  • Use of eco-friendly materials and compound recycling methods.

Strategic challenges include :

  • Mastery of production and use of onboard energy
  • Lower environmental impact for the entire life cycle of a ship
  • Competitiveness of naval construction and maintenance whole chain
  • Improvement of the security and safety of vessels, goods and persons.

Secured market potentials

Taking into consideration the importance of international maritime activity and despite the long lifetime of most ships, the market for the fleet renewal is insured large and involves a significant maintenance market.

Adjusted territorial strengths

The PACA territory has maintained its expertise from its former naval construction industrial activity. Large companies and shipyards, such as DCNS, STX Europe and CMR-Group, have partly shifted their activities to the maintenance, upkeep, and refitting of ships, by developing new expertise on the national and international level.Experts in the area of research and training contribute their cutting-edge expertise for the development of new products and services.
