The maritime sector is the 2nd Norwegian market in terms of GDP, with 7% of the world’s fleet owned by Norwegian companies. It is a mature sector still filled with opportunity.
Despite a strong local competition, large French companies are present and recognized: Thales, Bourbon Offshore, Technip FMC.
Several sectors are currently in need of new technologies in Norway.
First, concerning offshore installations following the discovery of new deposits in the North Sea. Norwegian production is projected to grow over the next few years.
In the offshore sector as well, as Norway is looking to transition to renewable energy. French companies have a real expertise in this area, especially regarding FOW.
Although aquaculture is a very mature sector in Norway, it is looking to modernize infrastructures. Norwegian partners are looking for innovative and ecological technologies for their farms.
Leader in maritime transport, Norway is investing in autonomous systems, but also in green ships.
In 2021, the Sea Innovation Clusters and their partners are launching an acceleration program dedicated to the ship and port of the future, in Norway and Finland.
