Ecological restoration of the marine environment: concrete action taking shape

Following their call for projects, the Rhône Mediterranean and Corsica Water Board and the PACA Marin Cluster are now planning a number of concrete projects for the conservation of marine environments.

Among the projects selected by the Water Board and the PACA Marine Cluster, the GIREL project for the Grand Port Maritime de Marseille involves a number of experimental pilot processes: eco-reefs, capturing, culturing and reseeding larvae, grafting cystoseira algae onto port infrastructures. The PACA Marine Cluster’s role is to provide project management support to the GPPM.Other projects are also taking shape: planting marine phanerogams, “mangrove” type habitats and cystoseira algae on artificial structures. A scientific committee will be commissioned to analyse and then monitor the projects
