Marine active principles for the cosmetics of tomorrow

The PACA Marine Cluster and the PASS (Perfumes, food aromas, cosmetics and agri-food products) Cluster jointly organised a seminar for businesses from the cosmetic sector in the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur Region.

On 2 December 2008, regional cosmetic businesses and representatives of COSMED (500 members in France including 150 in PACA) met in Toulon on the occasion of the seminar entitled « Cosmetics of tomorrow with the marine active principles ».The PACA Marine Cluster and the PASS Cluster presented their first area of collaboration for the development of «blue biotechnologies»: extension of Marine Cluster projects to the cosmetology area (ECIMAR) and potentially joint RandD undertakings (marine symbiosis, bio-fouling, active maritime substances, marine biodiversity).The seminar shed light on the important potential for collaboration between industries and research laboratories, from both the public and private sector: Oceanologic observatories of Villefranche-sur-Mer and Banyuls, Pierre Fabre Laboratory, COM/DIMAR, UNSA, ECOMERS and USTV/MAPIEM.
