2008, a productive year
2008, a year marked by successful events and achievements for the PACA Marine Cluster with three phases, particularly decisive for the consolidation and sustainability of its activities.
The assessment of the competitiveness clusters conducted by the government at the beginning of 2008 has been more than positive. In fact, as the Provence Alpes Cote d’Azur Marine Cluster has achieved the objectives of its initial specifications, it continues to be acknowledged as a recognized “globally-oriented cluster” and starts phase 2 with the negotiation of its three-year goal-oriented contract. Strategic roadmaps and budgets have been elaborated for this new ambitious action plan.In 2008, the effectiveness of the PACA Marine Cluster in the field could be measured by its successful track record concerning the Single Inter-ministerial Fund’s calls for projects. Eleven projects were selected amongst the thirteen submitted. Beyond the related funding, this result confirms that the cluster projects are totally in line with government industrial policy aimed at promoting innovation. In 2008, the PACA Marine Cluster consolidated its presence at the international level, by participating in globally-oriented events: Oceanology International in London, Euronaval in Paris and especially Biomarine, the World Marine and Maritime Forum, whose first Forum was successfully held in the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur Region thanks to the strong support of a number of territorial authorities and the dynamic participation of the Marine Cluster.
